Medellín gained worldwide notoriety as a hub of the drug trade. Twenty years after the collapse of Escobar’s power network, I visited the city to see what that historydoes to residents and their surroundings. The consequences of addiction proved tangible. With time, patience and respect, I built trust with people who live with it—personally or in their immediate circle. I photographed them attentively and without sensationalism, always in natural light.
